We have just found out we are being posted to RAF
Akrotiri, do we have to reserve a place for our child at the school? |
Please be assured that, if you are quartered at RAF Akrotiri, there
will always be a place for your child(ren) at our school. Please come in to the school and fill in your admission forms the day
after you arrive, and pass any records from your child’s previous school
in to the school office. Your child can start school a day or two after
that, which will give you all time to adjust after the quite exhausting
travel arrangements, and also give us time to prepare properly for a
smooth induction into our school.

Where do we buy our child's school uniform from?
School logo baseball caps,
polo shirts and sweatshirts are available from the School Office, and
are worn by most of the children.

My child has special educational needs. What
should I do?
If your child has special needs then,
before accepting your posting, they need to be registered with the MOD’s
Children’s Education Advisory
Service, CEAS,[ formerly known as SCE UK ] based at RAF
Upavon, by contacting them on email address
enquiries@gtnet.gov.uk . Alternatively you
should telephone or email the headquarters of Service
Children’s Education based in Germany and speak
to our principal Educational Psychologist on 0049-2161-908-2225, or
guidance1@bfgnet.de They will
then decide if your child’s special needs can be met overseas.

What type of things do we pack for our child's
healthy snack?
The NAAFI and local stores sell a wide range of produce and an
excellent variety of fresh fruit. We recommend a piece of fresh fruit,
healthy snack bars, cheese, snacks and plenty of water.

 |
How old do children have to be to
start school? |
Please note that for MOD personnel
serving at Akrotiri, if parents want it, there is free part time nursery
education [Foundation stage 1] for all children starting the term after
their 3rd birthday. [And in Foundation stage 2, which used to
be called Reception, there is just one intake in September in the school
year in which they become 5]
